My father in law lights up at least 20 trees like this through out the forrest along his lengthy driveway. It is magical. He is getting older and this tradition will fade into memory soon. So I am making many family members "Pap's Trees" Ornaments.

They are a single layer of blue opal art upside own. White chips for snow contour fused on. Second firing is the painted branches. The third firing will be a mat covering of blue paint, with the lights and a bit of glow around them cleaned off. I'll post the last picture next week as I am going out of town again. After the last firing they should look like night time with the lights glowing.

Because the snow chips are irid the little colored chips need a greater temp than 1380 to fuse into the irid. Instead they ball up on top of the irid. I was counting on this. Sometimes glass will even jump off of irid. That is what happen on the two ornaments that have birds. A light popped off, so rather than grinding it off and fire polishing, I painted it into a bird , ha, ha, ha.

Judy, those are really nice too.  The family will love them, knowing what they represent.  To bad someone can't do the work for your dad.  It would mean a lot to him.  There was a gent around here that used to do Christmas like that, and when he couldn't neighbors did it for him, because they had enjoyed seeing it for so many years.

Glad you guys like them. I can't wait to see the last phase completed.

Joan , I hope we get to that point. He has diabetes and we are watching him wither. But he insists on quietly living his life and doing his things. Maybe I will push hubby to offer to help this year. He might be ready to accept it.
