Les Girls

  • This is my interpretation of a picture that came around as part of one of those e-mail 'fwd' poems a couple of years ago.  As the panel is (only?) 16"x18" I have simplified some of the details like the strappy dresses and changed it to 3 girls in honour of a friendship that has spanned many years and miles.   As I usually work only on very small things this was a bit out of my comfort zone, but was a fun challenge. The came 'frame' was also my first attempt at soldering came since my initial course some 18 years ago and I managed to melt the point off the left lower corner.....but as it's just for me - I'm not re-doing it!!
    Below is the original picture.

  • Beth, this is an absolutely wonderful panel.  The artist in you is most evident.  The workmanship is excellent (as usual for your projects).  **cheer**

P.S. (a few hours later): I cannot get this panel out of my mind.  It represents so much happiness. As those three friends stroll along there is a sense of movement that prevails.

  • Thank you all for the kind comments.   I thoroughly enjoyed creating this - and I think it shows!  You're right Educate, it was the sense of movement that attracted me to the picture in the first place.   It just seems to say 'look out world - here we come...'   (Unlike nowadays when the hobble seems to say - 'been there - done that- got the ache to prove it.....')   Never-the -less - still lots to do!!

  • It is just lovely - it has such life, your version even more than the original, I think.

I'm just itching to turn it around and see their faces!   :)s*

  • This is a pattern I was wanting to do also.  I was a little stumped with all the detail, but you pulled it off great TH^^:).  Really like it.

Have fun! Would love to see your interpretation!   I'm a great believer in simplifying  details wherever feasible to make the picture work without being too busy.
