the very first of kiln questions

Happy New Year Guys!
Question.
I've got a (new) kiln, the base of which was pre-prepared for me with a kiln-wash . I was told to give it an initial firing to prepare the kiln for proper glass work. I also got a shelf with the kiln (Paragon Fusion). Does this also need to be pre-prepared (kiln wash) with/after the initial "dry" run, or is it sufficient just to fire the empty kiln, and Then prepare the glass project, kiln wash the shelf for the first time and then set the glass on it and off it goes?
Hope this isn't the daftest of questions!!

No reason why you should not kiln wash the shelf and fire it along with the curing firing for your kiln.

Thanks very much Stephen.
I think I just needed some reassurance, as I've been dilly-dallying over this maiden firing for SO long. Thanks,
Gray
