Snowflake design

I was at the glass shop yesterday and there was a snowflake hanging from the ceiling, one of many sample finished pieces the shop staff have on display. Wife liked it, so obviously I liked it too. I bought the pieces but didn't get a picture or sketch of the finished piece. I'm sure I could have, the shop owner was checking me out (making the sale) and giving assembly advice on this and some other 3D pieces, so it wasn't a secret that I was going to duplicate it.
Got home, and I can't get it to come together. Here is a picture of the pieces, roughly as they should go together. Problem is that the square pieces are clearly not stable, and the hanging sample was solid. What am I doing wrong?

Nice, but that's not it. The wife was along to supervise, and she carefully counted 18 berries, yours has 30. I'll go back tomorrow.

Figured it out. Not real happy with the solder quality, especially around the outside.

Looks good from where I am sitting!
Other than the height of your window. What are you up 40 stories?

14th floor, downtown Richmond. The state capitol is across the street, I have a very good view of it. For the past 2 weeks I have been watching Stephen Spielberg film his new movie "Lincoln" at the capitol.
