need source for decals that can be fired in microwave kiln

  • well just yesterday I tried out my microwave kiln that I got for christmas_ I know it's now october.  anyway, few questions. It uses kiln paper 5"x5" which I have been cutting up into smaller squares to use smaller amounts for firing. can I use the "thin kiln paper" that is 20"x20" roughly. that might save some money. it says not to use kiln wash.
also I want to use decals. the lazertran decals for glass that I bought, don't work. they stick but not sure how long they will last. if I try to fuse them they disappear (probably into the air), also capping them resulted in smashed glass.  might be good for things that don't get wet, like candles and wood. anyway, it says the kiln gets up to 1400-1600 degrees during firing. what decals can I use. I saw low-high fire and others talked about ceramic decals.  I'm looking for ones for pendants, earrings sizes and prefer animals and inspiring words.
and for those that don't know, the microwave kiln has an area about 4" in diameter so not alot of room, but enough to start.

  • You can easily use any fiber product in your m/w kiln. You aren't just limited to "thin fires". Fiber paper will also work. The limiting factor factor is how much height you want to lose. Buy the largest sheet that you can afford, and just it down to size.

As far as m/w-able decals go, sorry, but I can't help you out there - I never did try any. Still have my m/w kiln sitting on a shelf in the shop (collecting dust). To make life easier, I bought a microwave at the thrift store for about $10 to do all of my m/w kiln work in. It is dedicated to m/w kiln work, although now it is the only clock in the shop.

  •   I don't know anything about fusing - but a friend has suggested that this link might be helpful to you.

Hope I've done this right!  I'm  I.T. challenged.
