Hi,
Hope this has not already been covered somewhere..I am building two 30 x 20 copperfoiled panels for a customer that will have several 4" and 3" hand blown roundelles embedded in the pattern. These are rather thin around the edges and raised about 1/2 inch in the middle. I am concerend that the heat required to run a bead around could crack these delicate items. My plan was to tack the panels together with the roundelles in place and then remove them while panels were built, framed with zinc, cleaned and then gently insert the roundelles with minimal solder beads. I am now having second thoughts HELP!
Thanks in advance :-)

Haven't done a whole lot of rondells but don't remember that the thickness(or lack of) bothered anything. How about  using  a small "H" lead for the circumference? Takes very little heat and the circles are not that large.
Personally I would probably stick to  foiling as I go and not try to enter the rondells at a later time.

Hey,
Thanks for the idea about "H" lead..had not thought of that since I do not do lead came except for the odd repair for someone. I will check my local source for choices.

Unless there are obvious chips or cracks in the roundels' edges, I doubt there would be any problem using them with foil. - Tod
