Wooden Framing256 viewsYou'll notice that the second method is similar to pretty much like any picture frame. Using picture frames works fine, but only if the frame is, or can be made to be, strong enough to support stained glass. Reinforcement may be required, but it's a cheap source of frames. The second method can also be accomplished by a number of types of "clips" as opposed to molding.

Hangers on top frame21 viewsIt is preferable to attach hangers to the vertical members of the frame. If one must hang by the top (horizontal) rail, loops or hooks should be installed opposite to an internal seam which is securely soldered to that top rail. This will have the weight supported by the internal structure.
Extreme care must be taken to ensure that the solder joint between the hook/loop and the frame is very secure.
This practice should only be done with relatively light panels.Dec 02, 2009

Light box - hidden72 viewsIn my new shop I had less space. I needed a light box for my own work, but I needed all the work surface possible for classes. So I built this 3" X 2" light box, with a lid that, when closed, was part of the regular work surface. I use my light-box for trace-cutting, so there's always a paper pattern between the glass and the top of the light box. That eliminates the need for a light diffuser - as the paper does the diffusing.Oct 09, 2009
